The European Council
Brings together the Presidents or Prime Ministers of the EU countries, the Commission President and the European Council President
Represents the highest level of political cooperation Is chaired by a President who is elected every 2.5 years
Charles Michel is the current President
Meets at least four times per year.
The meetings are often referred to as “European Summits”
It defines the EU’s general political directions and priorities It has no power to pass laws
